According to Spanish outlet , Mourinho had an open case against him regarding tax evasion from the period of 2010 to 2012, which he had since appealed. However, the appeal has now been rejected and he will be forced to pay a total tax bill of €1.5million (£1.28m/$1.61m).

Mourinho avoided charges for 2010 but was deemed to have not paid the correct amount of tax in the following two years, after claiming Real Madrid had paid the fees of agent Jorge Mendes- rather than himself.
