Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to reveal that they want Todd Cantwell at Anfield after he helped Norwich knock Tottenham out of the FA Cup on penalties in north London on Wednesday.
The Englishman delivered a crafty display against Jose Mourinho’s men, drawing seven fouls from the Spurs players – no other man on the pitch won more freekicks than Cantwell.
Additionally, the 22-year-old completed two dribbles and also recorded two tackles on an excellent night for the Canaries, as they booked their place in the quarter-final.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for the man with six Premier League goals to his name this season – The Athletic revealed that the European champions had ‘intensified’ their interest in the attacking midfielder, who also has two assists in the Premier League this term.
It would be a decent capture given his form and the fact that Liverpool are apparently not going to offer Adam Lallana a new contract when his deal expires this summer.
Let’s see what the Liverpool fans on Twitter have been saying after Cantwell shone for Norwich against Tottenham…
To kick off the reaction, two supporters made reference to Cantwell’s impressive penalty in the shootout on Wednesday evening, in which he rifled it high into the top corner of Michel Vorm’s goal.
Another begged Liverpool to sign the Norwich No.14 – Daniel Farke’s side are well and truly engulfed in a relegation battle as they sit bottom of the Premier League, so it could be a simple swoop for the Reds should they go down.
Elsewhere, two other Liverpool fans enjoyed the way in which Cantwell shushed the Tottenham supporters after dispatching his penalty.
