Premier League giants have been put on-alert by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s statement of intent to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, as reported by Fox Sports.
What’s the word?
One of the finest strikers in world football, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has attracted vast interest from across the continent and the Gabonese international will have sparked a transfer frenzy by admitting he must leave the club this summer.
Aubameyang, who turns 28 this summer, has scored 20 goals in 22 games for Borussia Dortmund this season and found the net 39 times across all competitions last term, showing himself to be one of the best strikers in the world.
Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City are all said to hold interest in the African ace, along with Spanish giants Real Madrid, and whilst Aubameyang admitted moving to the Santiago Bernabeu is a ‘dream’, he’s left the door open for a Premier League switch.
What was said?
Speaking to French radio outlet RMC, Aubameyang said:
“If I want to reach the next level, I must leave in the summer. Real Madrid is still a dream, but there has been too much noise.”
Where will he go?
Real Madrid will remain the favourites for Aubameyang’s signature, with the striker not hiding his ambition and stating he made a promise to his late grandfather that he would represent Los Blancos, and a swoop could materialise with 29-year-old Karim Benzema being booed in recent games by his own fans.
However, the financial packages on offer in the Premier League could prove to be extremely tempting and the lure of working with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City could also be too good to turn down. Manchester United are another possibility, but their forward line remains well stocked.
Arsenal and Chelsea would likely have to smash their transfer record to land Aubameyang but it’s a possibility for both London sides, who could be looking to improve their forward options this summer.
