Liverpool fans are a really strange sort, even when England win they’re finding a way to try and slate Raheem Sterling. The Manchester City winger wasn’t on his best form yesterday and could have had a couple of goals if he had been, however, he still helped the Three Lions claim all three points and it’s unlikely he’ll be affected by The Reds’ comments.
The England trio of Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford and Raheem Sterling up front looks to be a very good one. Gareth Southgate’s boys are flying at the moment and have qualified, alongside Portugal, France and Belgium, for the UEFA Nations league semi-finals next June after winning group A4 and overcoming Spain and Croatia. If they’re to win the tournament, though, Sterling will have to be better than he was yesterday.
Sterling wasn’t the only one guilty of being wasteful, but he’s the one who The Reds have dialled in on after he spurned a superb chance one-on-one against Croatia in the first half that would have seen the Three Lions make their early dominance pay. In the end, it wasn’t to be for Sterling, but the fact that Southgate’s side still won is all that matters. However, that hasn’t stopped a number of Liverpool fans taking to Twitter to have a pop at their former star.

The Reds are pretty clear on what they think of Sterling and will be keen to see him either up his game or get dropped if his England performances don’t improve.
