Loads of Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have been reacting to a tweet from Alasdair Gold, who was relaying a statement provided to the League Manager’s Association by former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino following his exit earlier this month.
The Argentine’s reign with the north London outfit came to an end following their 1-1 draw at home to Sheffield United just over a fortnight ago, with Jose Mourinho replacing him less than 12 hours after the initial announcement.
The 47-year-old has certainly taken his time before saying anything about his departure, saying that he did his best to achieve the aims he was given in his first meeting with owner Daniel Levy.
While this season may not have been the best, leading the club to a Champions League final and securing plenty of top-four finishes in the Premier League represented great progress, and it is a fact that hasn’t been lost on those supporters responding to the statement.
While one said “it’s happening again” with a crying meme, another said they were “gutted” that the former Southampton man wasn’t given longer in the new stadium – perhaps rightly so, but something clearly wasn’t right on and off the pitch this term before Pochettino went.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
