According to Bild, Tottenham are in the race to sign Hoffenheim youngster Nadiem Amiri, with RB Leipzig also keen on the midfielder.
What’s the Story?
German reports are suggesting that Tottenham are very interested in signing Nadiem Amiri, who is valued at £9million by Transfermarkt.
A regular in the Hoffenheim side, Amiri has been impressing scouts this season with his insatiable energy and dynamism. Tottenham and Leipzig are favourites to land the 21-year-old, although no contact has been made by either club as of yet.
How good has Amiri been this season?
A revelation. While Amiri stats sheet doesn’t indicate anything special, his performances have been superb and he has arguably been Hoffenheim’s best player this season. He has been exceptional in the Europa League, totally dominating the midfield in both games against Istanbul Besiksehir.
And now, Amiri is transferring his form in the Bundesliga to the national side. The midfielder scored in Germany U-21’s 7-0 victory over Azerbaijan this week and was arguably the best player on the field.
Would Amiri be a good signing for Tottenham?
While Spurs already have a number of quality players in attacking midfield positions, there is no reason why adding Nadiem Amiri to the mix would be a problem.
The German actually has elements of Dele Alli to his game, although he is less of an offensive threat and contributes more defensively than the Englishman.
If Spurs want to become perennial Champions League participants, they need increased strength in depth and Amiri would certainly add that to their squad, at a reasonable price to boot.
