The 25-year-old forward saw injury prevent him from linking up with his country during the November international break. As a result, he played no part for the United States as they booked their place in the CONCACAF Nations League semi-finals.

Any fears that Pulisic could be out for action for a considerable period of time were quickly calmed, with the former Chelsea star able to return to the training field ahead of a Serie A clash with Fiorentina. He played 61 minutes in a 1-0 win, with fellow countryman Yunus Musah seeing more game time alongside him.

Milan are now preparing for a Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund at San Siro on Tuesday, with Pulisic posting on Instagram ahead of another reunion with his former club: “Important result! Big week ahead.”

Pulisic figured from the off in Milan’s 0-0 draw at Signal Iduna Park back in October and will be hoping to make a more telling contribution to the Rossoneri cause in midweek, as he seeks to enhance his tally of four goals and two assists for the season – which have all come in Serie A.
